Unboxing the Apple Shirt

After standing in a second line (read the Otay Ranch Mall opening), we finally were handed our snazzy Apple opening store t-shirts.

And, in true Apple tradition, here are the unboxing pictures.

Just look at the beautiful whoa–wait…that’s not a Longhorn, is it?
I will put up pictures after I am done installing it.

Otay Ranch Mall Opening

Want to know something weird?

I got an email earlier this week that said that there was a new Apple store opening in Chula Vista this Friday. If we are one of the first thousand, we get a free Apple shirt!

So the evening before, the fiancee and I (after my very first Wienerschnitzel food ever–yay last Oktoberfest hoorah) swing over to the new mall location to check out where the Apple store is at. Apparently, the whole mall is new and it’s opening up the next day, too.

OK…so it’s almost midnight when we get there and we got to drive around just checking out the place.

We found that Apple store.
We would return early the next morning to guarantee ourselves a cool Apple t-shirt (*yes, we are that kind of people).

OK…so a little bit before 8:00 the next morning:
Yeah…there was a line. There was a long line. The mall doesn’t even open until 10:00.

Oh–cool, early morning entertainment.
Stilts Dancers Singing Some cheerleaders from the nearby high school (Yay–ditching school the easy way!) The friggin place finally let’s us enter the mall at 10:00.

And finally–there’s the Apple store…crap.

Another line.

OH.
MY.
GOODNESS.  ;)

You would crap yourself, too, if you saw what Apple just got a patent on.

It’s the new interface for what appears to be a full screen video iPod. It seems to be a touch-bezel.

A touch-bezel is nice. They’re not buttons, but rather a border that you can touch around the display. That way, you won’t scratch up the display.

It’s so beautiful.

Weird need.

I am really excited about the concert this weekend. You know the one…

Mercyme, Audio Adrenaline, Phil Wickham
The one where I would paint huge letters of my body and root like they were some type of sporting team
The one I won two free tickets to, as well as some meet and greets
The one I bought two great tickets for (myself, and a close friend of mine)
The one I gave one ticket to my girlfriend

And the other ticket I can’t find anyone to take.

Which is weird. MercyMe and AudioA is among the most popular bands in all the land of Christian music. To add, this is Audio Adrenaline’s last concert.

And did I mention that the ticket is free?

It’s not that I have a lack of Christian friends. I also don’t have a lack of friends who like music. I think it’s maybe that I have a lack of Christian friends who like music.

That, and everyone’s all about the Halloween party that night.

Oh well, we might just have a spare chair for anyone who wants it.

That’s not right!

Pelican eats pigeon whole.

Children aghast as pelican swallows pigeon whole

Last updated at 18:54pm on 24th October 2006

Families strolling through a London park were left shocked when a pelican picked up and swallowed an unsuspecting pigeon.

The Eastern White pelican struggled with the desperately frantic pigeon in its beak for more than 20 minutes before swallowing it whole.

The moment was caught on camera by photographer Cathal McNaughton, who was taking pictures of the wildlife in St James’s Park.

The pigeon was still alive when it reached the pelican’s stomach, he said.

Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro’s now available.

And if you thought I really wanted one before

The laptops are now available with Core 2 Duo, as well as Firewire 800 (for all those non-existent Firewire drives that I own). But the one I am interested in also comes standard with 1GB of RAM and a faster Superdrive and a larger hard drive.

All for the same price. Nice.

There’s been a ton of stuff I forgot to write about.

First things, first. I got a new pet. His name is Mahoney. Mahoney plugs into the wall and when asked, leaves his comfortable electronic feast and glides around my house finding dirt on the floor and sucking it up. Then, when Mahoney gets tired, he glides back to his little spot in my living room and sleeps while recharging.

Yep…I got a roomba robot. It’s pretty slick. That way my lazy butt can just sit, watch TV and eat. So what if I drop a few items on the floor, Mahoney will get it for me.

I sound like a total slob.

Also, I was pretty ill last week, so I called in sick. What I did was sleep something like 14 hours, resting, then after getting an additional two-three hours of sleep, got up before the official sunrise and took pictures of it coming over Mexico.

Weird, huh? From my perspective, the sun rises over Mexico first. It took me a while to get that, too.

Anyway, this malady was due to the crazy off-shore flow with the Santa Ana winds just messing around with my allergies. I was not a happy camper, as it were.

What else…oh yes. I have a history of not reading forwards that are emailed to me. Especially the huge Powerpoint presentation ones. However, I read one very recently sent to me. It mentions how people always seem to postpone happiness (I’ll be happier when the kids grow up, I’ll be happier when they move out…when I lose weight…when I get the new car…blah, blah, blah). Well, it then mentioned that instead of doing that, to realize that you are happy now. Which, when I stop to realize it, I truly am.

Time for another Baby Ruth. Yummy.
