The MercyMe, AudioA, Phil Wickham concert - review
I missed the meet and greet (who has one before a concert? -just kidding) Did I mind? Not really. Especially after I saw myself on the screen when they were playing the 3:42AM song.
That was cool.
Here are links to the pictures I took:
Phil Wickham’s performance was cool. It was short, but nice. It was different seeing him perform in such a huge venue–very different than seeing him at church.
Audio Adrenaline’s stage time was amazing. It was wild and funny. They seem to always interact with the crowd and Mark Stuart always holds a microphone up to one person and have him or her sing the verse. This time, he did it for a security guard, some random person sitting up front, and on stage–where this enthusiastic fan took his mic and danced across the stage as if she was part of the band. It was great.
Sadly, this is the final leg of their concert. You can also tell that everyone in the crowd knew that. When they performed the song Goodbye, the young lady next to me kept sobbing. It was a great concert. If I could, I would buy a ticket to the absolutely final concert at Waikiki.
And MercyMe? As usual, the concert was excellent. They played nearly all the songs from the new album, then a medley of popular older MercyMe fare, the “big” song (I Can Only Imagine), older worship songs, and covers. One of the covers was an homage to Audio Adrenaline, a tribute track in the song Tremble. In MercyMe fashion, Bart Millard reflects on his life, family, and upbringing. Then he speaks on perspectives of being in God’s presence. Then they rock out the remainder of the night with inspirational songs, an encore that brings them back out with their big song off the last album, and the 3:42AM (Writer’s Block), the song I have more or less been waiting for. I wanted to see if the video I submitted made it on screen.
If you read earlier, it did. So there I was doing the robot for all to see.
It was an awesome concert. If they came to your town, and you saw them–great. If they are coming, you should definitely plunk down the cash to get a ticket.
