X-Files

Today is the day that I have been waiting for over a decade. The new X-Files movie!

So my wife and I started to watch it on DVD and I am reminded of a time where I was captivated by story telling, twists, and plot-which is way more than I can say in this age of reality tv and M Night Shymalan.

I am hoping that the crowds are still going over to watch the Dark Knight, because as much as I like the series, very few things are worth spending a day in line for two hours of entertainment.

Wordpress on the iPhone

I just heard about this new iPhone program that allows me to blog on my phone. This is sweet and, along with Todo and Bejeweled 2, is the iPhone killer app.

It is quite awesome.

Oh Fiat, why aren’t you available here?

I’d scoop you up faster than Cold Stone ice cream.

Eames Lounge Chair

I have been scouring every chance I get to look for the cheapest price on the Herman Miller Eames Lounge chair.

It’s such a beautiful chair, but it’s expensive. I’ve told myself a while back, however, that I was going to own me a real piece of mid-century anything from any of my favorite era designers, and what better item to get than comfortable furniture.

I am not as obsessed as some. For instance, take this tattoo’ d gentlemen. While I would some type of permanent item to pass on to my children and such, I can’t see how this would work.

Plus, it’s just not classy.

At any rate, if anyone out there is reading this and knows where I can get one (a real one) for south of the $1500 mark, please let me know.

Here’s what Design Within Reach says about the chair:

In continuous production since its introduction in 1956, the Eames Lounge Chair is widely considered one of the most significant designs of the 20th century. It was the culmination of Charles and Ray Eames’ efforts to create a club chair using the molded plywood technology that they pioneered in the ’40s. In Charles Eames’ words, the vision was a chair with the "warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman’s mitt." The result has become the consummate lounge set, timelessly blending old-fashioned comfort and visionary modernism. Pairing soft, inviting leather with the sleek form of molded plywood, the seat is balanced on a five-star, die-cast aluminum base.
